Overview

The Gambian Coalition of Human Rights Defenders brings together civil society organizations committed to protecting human rights in The Gambia. Affiliated with the West African Network of Human Rights Defenders (ROADDH/WAHRDN), it works to cover the entire territory—which has a unique geographical configuration, stretching the length of the Gambia River. Its priorities include protection and early warning, advocacy with authorities and regional bodies, and capacity-building for actors on the ground. Based in Banjul, it relies on a network of local organizations operating throughout the country.
