Overview

The Mauritanian Coalition of Human Rights Defenders brings together civil society organizations committed to protecting human rights in Mauritania. As part of the West African Network of Human Rights Defenders (ROADDH/WAHRDN), it works to maintain a presence across a vast, sparsely populated territory where long distances make it difficult to provide comprehensive coverage. Its priorities include protection and early warning, advocacy with authorities and regional bodies, and capacity-building for actors on the ground. Based in Nouakchott, it relies on a network of local organizations present in the country’s main regions.
