Overview

The Beninese Coalition of Human Rights Defenders brings together civil society organizations committed to protecting human rights in Benin. Affiliated with the West African Network of Human Rights Defenders (ROADDH/WAHRDN), it pays particular attention to the safety of human rights defenders in the northern border regions, which are exposed to regional instability in the Sahel. Its priorities include protection and early warning, advocacy with authorities and regional bodies, and capacity-building for actors on the ground. Based in Cotonou, it relies on a network of local organizations active throughout the country.
