ISHR has developed a simple list of ten concrete measures that the UN Working Group on Business and Human Rights recommends companies take to respect human rights defenders and adhere to the UN Guiding Principles.
As part of ongoing efforts to ensure that companies respect human rights defenders throughout their operations, ISHR is today launching an ‘explanatory note’ to accompany the Guidelines on Human Rights Defenders (2021) developed by the UN Working Group on Business and Human Rights.
This short and simple resource is designed to help human rights defenders, civil society organizations, and affected communities better understand and advocate for concrete measures by economic actors to protect their work. The resource also highlights the essential role played by human rights defenders in securing our shared civic space —an environment in which rights are respected and businesses can thrive in a responsible and sustainable manner.
