From March 19 to 23, 2026, human rights defenders (HRDs) from West Africa participated in a training-of-trainers session in Lomé, Togo. This capacity-building workshop aimed to strengthen the expertise of civil society actors and address the challenges encountered over the past year. It also sought to identify needs and develop strategic solutions to improve the response of local initiatives, with a particular focus on regional cooperation mechanisms.
These trainers shared their experiences with the training model provided by Front Line Defenders (FLD) and the partner organization’s willingness to support them in their various projects.
At the end of their training, these trainers worked in pairs to share their experience by leading training modules for about fifteen participants specializing in protection, who came from the countries covered by ROADDH.
Tools for better preserving their work materials were shared with the human rights defenders in attendance, along with strategies for improving collaboration among the various stakeholders and increasing the effectiveness of their actions.
